Remote Measurements · Orbit Measure
Once you’ve scanned a room with Manifold Orbit Measure, you can take accurate measurements from the 3D model without returning to site. Accurate to half an inch. Works from your phone, tablet, or desktop.
1
You need to scan the room with Orbit Measure before taking remote measurements. See “How to take a 3D scan” for the full guide. The scan only needs to happen once — the 3D model is permanently stored in your project.
2
Navigate to your project, find the scan, and tap to open it. The 3D viewer shows your room from any angle. Pinch to zoom, swipe to rotate, and tap to switch between 3D view and 2D floor plan view.
3
Tap the ruler icon to activate the measurement tool. Tap your first point on the 3D model, then tap your second point. Manifold calculates and displays the distance between those two points. You can place measurements on walls, floors, ceilings, or any surface.
4
Take a screenshot of your measurement, or share the full 3D model link so your engineer or client can take their own measurements in the browser. The shareable link is view-only — no account needed to view or measure.
💡 Accuracy note
Manifold Orbit Measure scans are accurate to approximately half an inch on most flat surfaces. This is sufficient for renovation planning, material ordering, and client handoffs. It is not intended as a replacement for survey-grade precision required for structural engineering or legal boundary surveys.
