Rough-in inspection checklist
Circuit layout
- All circuits per approved drawings and load calculations
- Wire gauge correct for each circuit breaker size
- All home runs complete to panel
- Dedicated circuits installed where required (kitchen, bath, HVAC, etc.)
Rough-in documentation
- All box locations photographed before drywalling
- Panel layout photographed with circuits labelled
- Every penetration through fire-rated assemblies photographed and sealed
- Grounding and bonding confirmed and photographed
Pre-cover inspection
Before any drywall, insulation, or ceiling material covers the rough-in:
- GPS-tagged photo of every box location
- Full photo walk of all wire runs
- Panel rough-in photographed — breakers, feeders, and sub-feeds
- Inspection approval card photographed if applicable
Final inspection checklist
Devices and fixtures
- All outlets, switches, and fixtures installed and secured
- GFCI outlets installed and tested in all required locations
- AFCI breakers installed where required
- All covers and plates in place
Panel and documentation
- Panel directory complete and legible
- All breakers labelled with circuit destination
- Panel cover installed, no open knockouts
- Final panel photographed for client records
Test and sign-off
- All circuits tested with outlet tester or multimeter
- GFCI test and reset confirmed
- Smoke and CO detectors installed and tested where required
